Director of Basketball Operations
Jack McCutcheon
Upon retiring after a successful 25 year career on Wall Street, Coach McCutcheon found a calling to help guide young adults as he decided to pursue a Masters Degree in Education from Molloy College to begin teaching. However, he always found himself around the game of basketball from a young age. As a graduate of Maria Regina High School, he was a member of the highly touted Crown basketball teams and enrolled at Marist College after graduation. Coach McCutcheon is comfortable on the sidelines as he has coached some of the top athletes on Long Island for over 40 years. In addition to his championship CYO teams, he is a founding member of the Long Island Lightning AAU program where he is currently one of the few inducted into the Hall of Fame. He took over the Firebird program for the 2006-2007 season and immediately implemented a winning culture. During his 14 year tenure as the Firebird’s head coach, he has won nearly 200 games, produced numerous All Long Island players, won 3 regular season NSCHSAA championships, and has been named coach of the year 3 times. More importantly, his program has been selected as the recipients of the James Greene Sportsmanship award 7 of the last 9 years. In addition to running the program, Coach McCutcheon teaches History and serves Kellenberg Memorial as the Dean of Students on the Administrative staff. He currently resides in Rockville Centre, NY with his wife Mary and is the proud father of 4 adult children and finds tremendous joy being with his 4 grandchildren.
